Knowledge that
can execute.
ZeroCodex is an open standard for portable data meaning, computation and assumptions. It turns knowledge normally buried in spreadsheets, scripts, APIs, dashboards and individual expertise into reusable executable Recipes.
The problem is not just data
Organizations and researchers already have enormous amounts of data. What is repeatedly lost is the knowledge required to use it: which source is authoritative, how fields correspond, how a result is calculated, which choices were made, and what should happen when those choices change.
ZeroCodex places that knowledge in a reusable layer above the underlying systems.
Recipes
A Recipe is an executable description of how to obtain or produce something useful. Recipes are graphs: they can read sources, call other Recipes, transform data, return results and expose the choices that matter.
Assumptions
Important choices stay visible. Assumptions can inherit downstream, be inspected or overridden, and cause only their dependent work to be recomputed.
Codices
A Codex maps local reality onto shared concepts without requiring a universal database. CityCodex does this for civic and public data. CorpCodex does the same for organizational and business knowledge.
Portable analysis
Once meaning is standardized, analytical Recipes can move between cities, companies, applications and researchers instead of being rebuilt around every source schema.
From calculation to composition
Recipes can be recurring or event-driven. Modifiers can drive Assumptions, making animation one instance of a more general mechanism. AI can help author and interpret Recipes without becoming the Runtime: accepted Recipes remain deterministic, inspectable, testable, versioned and reproducible.
A Recipe can also be a publication
Presentation is optional, but it can travel with the computation. A researcher can publish an analysis together with chosen sources and selected Assumptions. Readers can see the result, change exposed assumptions and recompute in the browser. Advanced users can open the same Recipe in the Kitchen and inspect the graph.
Interactive research can therefore be hosted as ordinary static files and computed client-side where practical, without requiring every researcher to build a bespoke web application.
Open by design
ZeroCodex.org is the home of the open standard, documentation and community. The language, Runtime, file format and resolution rules are intended to remain open. Enterprise services can exist around that foundation — private infrastructure, identity, permissions, connectors, governance, auditing, scheduled execution, compliance and support — without withholding the core Recipe model.
